Go bananas

Bananas are an incredibly popular fruit be it for chopping on porridge, eating at an 11am break, making a smoothie or grabbing as a quick snack after coming back from the gym.

So what are the health benefits of bananas?

Bananas are rich in potassium which is a mineral that is necessary for keeping blood pressure normal containing on average 110 calories. Studies have consistently shown the benefits of eating high fibre foods like bananas helps prevent heart disease.1

Bananas are fat and cholesterol free which is also good news.  The potassium in bananas can help prevent muscle cramps after exercise.2

Bananas are a primary source of carbohydrates so they are a good way to start the day and will give you energy to keep going.

Bananas are a good source of fibre.  A study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine also confirms that eating high fibre foods helps prevent heart disease.3
