Kiwi & Apple Smoothie – so easy to make
Kiwi and Apple Smoothie.
You realise you never ate your fruit at work today. Here’s a quick way to pack in the antioxidants:
What you need:
- 1 apple large size
- 2 Kiwi (peeled)
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 cups of fresh baby spinach
Throw the contents into your blender and hey presto you have your Kiwi and Apple Smoothie.
Kiwis are an excellent source of vitamin C. They are also a good source of vitamins A, B6 & E and K as well as folate, magnesium, phosphorous, copper and dietary fibre. Dietary fibre can lower cholesterol. Kiwis contain more vitamin C than oranges. Imagine with 1 cup of kiwi you get 270 per cent of the recommended dietary allowance for vitamin C. They are also low in calories with 1 kiwi containing 46 calories.
Spinach has lots of cartenoids in particular anti-cancer cartenoids in particular cartenoids called epoxyxanthophylis. More and more research is currently being carried out on this.
We all know the age old saying ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’. Apples are also a good source of vitamin C. There are 4 grams of fibre in a medium apple. Apples are great for snacking promoting weight loss.
